A COLCHESTER prison officer, who became an author, screenwriter and film producer, has made his directorial debut.

Ronnie Thompson, 33, co-filmed new movie, Tower Block, which was released in selected cinemas this week.

The film follows residents of tower block 31, East London, who become unwitting witnesses of a murder.

A year later the residents find themselves fighting for survival as a sniper traps them in their tower block home.

It is a second foray into the movie business for Mr Thompson, after last year’s Screwed, which was based on his own best-selling book, which in turn was based on his own experience of being a prison officer.

Well done Ronnie for being yet another person who has proven it is actually possible to tunnel one's way out of Colchester given enough positivity!
