Company says 'it was an easy decision' to stay in Colchester

BUSINESS owners say opting to keep one of Colchester’s oldest companies in the town instead of moving abroad was an easy decision.

When Albéa sold its previous site, in Ipswich Road, for housing development, it came close to moving its operations from Colchester.

But yesterday *TUES* the company officially opened a new base in Newcomen Way, in Severalls Industrial Estate, securing the more than 200 jobs.

Francois Luscan, chief executive of Albéa, said in the end it was an easy decision to keep the toothpaste tube factory in the town.

"For me there is no better place in the UK than Colchester for us to be,” he said.

“It would have been easy to move things abroad, as is the case with many companies.

“But Colchester is a big part of our growth."
