STAFF at Wivenhoe’s top takeaway are off to Norway after being crowned the best fish and chip shop in the region.

Henley’s of Wivenhoe will now progress to the national finals of the National Fish & Chip Awards at a top London hotel next January.

Next month, they will join staff from the nine other regional winners on the three-day educational tour of Norway, where they will learn how the Scandinavian nation preserves its cod supplies.

Such a shame that this chippy is all the way out in Wivenhoe and not in Colchester! The fish and chip shops in Colchester are horrendous!

Oh, do love a jolly fish frier.
I`ll make Wivenhoe a scooter club ride out destination,
"weather permitting"

A jolly good reason to go there is the thought of mouth watering fish & chips..

oh stop it,
I`m hungry again now.

The real problem with the Ipswich Road shop was the location.

The fish and chips were always very good but parking was difficult.

I think the best fish and chips shop has gone, and I can't find any that can compete with it. That has to be "The Golden Plaice" which use to be on North Station Road. Shame.

I agree The golden plaice, in its prime use to be the best.

Just a shame they use frozen chips and don't make them fresh on-site. I've always thought the chips from Papa's were far nicer.

I used to love going to the one on that used to be on North station Road, called the Golden Plaice. Shame the ownership changed.

I remember when David was in Queen Street, always busy and excellent quality, service. My elderly parents always used to look forward to a nice chat and a fish lunch.good luck to him and yes a real shame he's out in Wivenhoe.
