HUNDREDS of cyclists took to the streets of Colchester to raise cash for a recovery centre.

The Help for Heroes’ Ride to Recovery on Sunday saw pedal-pushers take on a 10, 35 or gruelling 70 mile route around the north Essex countryside.

Many of the riders dressed up for the occasion with fancy dress being order of the day for several cyclists.

The event was raising money for Chavasse VC House, the Colchester Personnel Recovery Centre, in Berechurch Road. The centre was built after fundraising by the Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
