Two trapped after Queen Street crash

A THREE car smash left two people trapped in their car with neck injuries.

Police and paramedics were called to Queen Street, Colchester, just after 3pm today following the collision outside The Gym and former Route nightclub.

Paramedics called for assistance from the fire service just after 3.30pm.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to cut off the roof of one of the cars involved and free a man and a woman with neck injuries.

The injuries are not thought to have been serious.

A spokesman for Essex Police said a blue Vauxhall Astra, red Ford Mondeo and black Hyundai i20 collided partially blocking off the road.

The combination of the crash and the roadworks on Ipswich Road left the town gridlocked.

Blimey. What sort of speed was involved here? Generally speaking, a spike instead of an airbag would make drivers behave.

It was less than 5mph the bumper was barely scratched its a pathetic insurance scam in the works and a rather large crowd saw it happen me included. Absolutely pathetic.

Didn't see this incident but from all accounts it was nothing more than a minor shunt.

What is it they say, Where there's blame there's a claim! All too often the "so called" whiplash injuries are just a ploy and the Emergency services cannot take chances.

Of course the Fire Brigade just love taking a roof off a car which instantly renders it a write off.

If true and this is a confidence trick I am disgusted.

Disgusting.

Sounds like a "whiplash" claim on the way then lol.

Have just seen these insulting comments!! I was one of the injured parties!! Thought that SamEssex and the others might like to know that money for a whiplash claim would not compensate me for watching my friend in agony, clutching his head, passing out, staying unresponsive for a while, then being unable to move or speak with pain! Insurance scam, my foot!! I am furious that people think they know things when in fact they know nothing at all!!
Maybe the commenters would like to lie there, in pain, immobilised, worried, with their children terrified until they got full information? Silly thing that I am , I'm sentimentallt attached to my car too!! It was bought for me by my now deceased partner and I loved that car nearly as much as I loved him!! Now they are both gone. Again, there are things that money just cannot compensate for!
Maybe they would like to see the photos I took today of the remains of my car, which show the bumper pushed into the boot and the bonnet bent so much it won't close, then call it a shunt!!!
And if any of them want my headache, back ache, muscle spasms etc etc, they can willingly have them along with their offensive comments!!!

On the other hand though, one of the bus drivers who saw us trapped in the car was told today that we were OK and apparently 'his face lit up' and he was going to tell the other drivers in the depot who had been watching the incident and were genuinely worried!! So not everyone has warped, twisted minds!!

Yes seeing as though it was a genuine crash and I was genuinely worried about my Dad and family friend, being called out of work to be told he can't move and been cut out of a car. What is wrong with people!!! If you don't know the facts then don't bother commenting.

Strange how the accusers haven't bothered to respond to genuine comments!!! I wonder why!!!

Wellnow, let me put you straight!! I was almost stationary when I was hit from behind, so I certainly wasn't travelling too fast!!! The car in front of me was travelling at a similar speed, when I was catapaulted into the rear of it. Yes, maybe the car behind was going too fast, but don't tar us all with the same brush!!
You may also like to know that I had to take my friend to the hospital again this morning, where he has been referred for physiotherapy, to try to ease some of the pain caused by the collision.
Try walking a mile in other peoples' shoes before you comment on their lives!!!
