A PARALYMPIAN dropped in to meet supermarket shoppers at a Colchester store.
Sophia Warner, who finished just outside the medals in two spring events at the London Games, visited Sainsbury’s in Tollgate on yesterday.
The Stanway store was selected from others around the country, whose shoppers filled in a London 2012 quiz to win the chance to meet the athlete.
The 37-year-old came fourth in the women’s T35 100m and 200m and took time out of her training schedule to meet staff and shoppers between 3pm and 6pm.
Mrs Warner said: “This is my chance to meet and say thank you to just some of the people who were so phenomenally supportive of all of the athletes during London 2012.”
Andrew Robinson, store manager, said: “It is fantastic to have Sophia come into store and meet all our customers and colleagues.
The London 2012 Paralympic Games have been a truly extraordinary event and we have seen tremendous support from everyone here.”
