MODERN information boards have been installed to explain the heritage of Colchester’s historic Roman Walls.

The wall which surrounds the town is the oldest and longest-surviving town wall in Britain dating back 2,000 years and stretching for 2,800 metres.

Now visitors to Colchester, as well as the town’s residents, can find out about the wall’s history thanks to the new boards.

It would be lovely to know where they are. Join us for a walk around the walls on Sunday 28th October midday at Balkerne Gate and learn more of our history.
