A SUPER slimmer who has lost 21st 7lbs is going to take part in Colchester’s rescheduled Race for Life.

Natalie White, 47, refused to leave her house in East Street, Dovercourt when she weiged 35st.

She was given five years to live and was too depressed to be seen in public.

After going under the knife to have the size of her stomach reduced she had to get active to shed the pounds and started exercising in an alley near her home.

Now she has the confidence to walk five miles in the Race for Life in Colchester’s Castle Park on September 30.

She said: “My mum died of cancer so I like to do what I can for Cancer Research.

Natalie has set up a sponsor page at raceforlifesponsorme.org/nataliewhite984.

<li>Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Colchester was cancelled in August when the course got waterlogged.

It has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 30.

The event at 11am is full but there are still spaces for the event at 2pm.

Bariatric surgery is not a guaranteed path to weight loss and patients still have to learn to control their calorific intake and exercise.
For many of us, losing 1½ stone can be a struggle and for Natalie to have lost 21½ stone is a fantastic achievement. That Natalie has chosen something positive to express her new-found confidence is something that should be applauded and not demeaned.
