Expanding Bartech Marine to move from Mersea to Hythe
3:00pm Monday 17th September 2012 in News
Big plans – Gerald Barnett, managing director, and Paul Bleck, director, at Bartech Marine’s current base in West Mersea. The firm is moving to the Hythe
AN engineering firm has announced a massive expansion which will see it relocate to Colchester’s Hythe .
The expansion of Bartech Marine, currently based in Rushmere Close, West Mersea , will see ten new jobs created.
It employs 24 people at the moment at its current 3,000sq ft island site.
The firm is set to move to its new base, which is five times bigger, in Port Lane at the end of the year.
The news coincides with it being chosen as one of five UK firms to service MTU engines. MTU, founded in Germany, is one of the world’s leading engine manufacturers, and partly based its decision to award the contract on Bartech’s plans to relocate.
Famously, an MTU engine powered the Virgin Atlantic Challenger II, the power boat Richard Branson used to secure the Blue Riband trophy on his record-breaking Atlantic crossing in 1986.
Paul Bleck, director of Bartech Marine, said: “This is our first official dealership, and we’re aiming to be the number one MTU dealer in the UK.
“This contract will open the door to new clients and let us recruit more local talent as we grow.”
