A MAN had his arms slashed repeatedly in a knife attack.

Police were called to Coats Hutton Road, in Shrub End, Colchester, on Monday, at 5.20pm following reports of a man being attacked.

A spokesman for Essex Police said they arrived to find a man, 30, from Colchester, with cuts to his arms from a “sharp bladed implement”.

Two men, 19 and 22, from Colchester, have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

They were being questioned last night.

The attack took place at the Gatacre Court flats, just yards from Alderman Blaxill School.

It is understood the two men were arrested in the alley behind the Colchester Borough Homes- owned building.

Mic Ralph, of Gatacre Court, said: “I heard banging and then I saw the guy with scratch marks on his arms.

“I thought the banging was the neighbours upstairs until I saw the injuries, but I didn’t see the incident. I have been here for 12 years and have had no trouble.”

Coats Hutton Road is a residential road with flats, houses and bungalows and a courtyard with shops.

Residents said the area is normally quiet and trouble free.

One woman, who the Gazette has agreed not to name, said: “I saw the police, but I had no idea what was going on.

“A little later I saw two men being take by police out of the alley.

“You don’t need things like this near you. “We sometimes get characters over by the shops, but never this kind of trouble.”

An employee at Martins newsagent said: “I was locking up the shop last night and I just saw loads of police with blue flashing lights turn up.

“I had no idea what was going on, but could see it was over by the flats.”

Police have not issued an appeal for information.

When will the government take tougher action? Zero tolerance and NO excuses for carrying a knife, none whatsoever! Anyone who carries a knife is scum and should be kept away from society. There's too much of it going on now, enough is enough!
