A PENSIONER who made and distributed indecent images of children was jailed for 20 months today.

Police found 2,182 still and moving images on Michael Andrews’ laptop after searching his house in June last year, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.

Andrew, of Church Street, Dunmow, admitted two charges of making indecent images of children, two of distributing such images, and a charge of possessing what the court described as an “extreme pornographic image.”

The images portrayed children as young as two.

Recorder John Caudle sentenced Andrews to six months jail for each of the making images charges, 20 months each for the two distribution counts and four months for possessing extreme pornography.

The sentences will run concurrently, meaning Andrews serves 20 months in jail. He will be released after ten months and serve the remainder of the sentence on licence.

Andrews was also given a sexual offences prevention order for ten years and must sign the sex offenders register for the same period. The computer containing the images will be destroyed.

No order was made for costs.

Det Sgt Ian Collins from the On Line Investigation Team (POLIT) at Essex Police said: "This is another excellent positive result for the whole team."
