Pensioner disqualified from driving after death crash

AN ELDERLY man, who caused the death of a former Colchester United youth player, has been disqualified from driving.
Donald Lambert, 83, drove into motorcyclist Dean Sadler on the Ardleigh Crown roundabout on April 1, Colchester Magistrates' Court heard Tuesday.
Mr Sadler, who joined the U’s when he was 16 for two years, fell from his bike and suffered fatal injuries following the crash.
Lambert, of Mayes Lane, Ramsey, admitted causing death by careless driving.
District Judge John Wollard sentenced Lambert to 100 hours of unpaid work, disqualified him from driving for 18 months and told him to pay £85 costs.
