IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: BOY, 17, KILLED AT PARTY

IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A PROMISING student was stabbed to death as he tried to break up a fight at a party in Colchester.

Jay Whiston, 17, was knifed twice in the stomach outside the house in Marlowe Way, Lexden. Four teenagers have been arrested in connection with the incident.

* Two killers have been jailed after a "loss of control" which lead to the death of a man in Clacton. Oliver Smith-Daye died after he was attacked following al party in the town's Trimley Close in the early hours of New Year's Day. Charlie Jacobs, 23, was jailed for life for Oli's murder and his former partnerl Elisha Francois was jailed for six years after being convicted of manslaughter.

* Fiesty Ellie May Challis is up and running - on the same blades as Paralympic hero Oscar Pistorius. Ellie, eight, lost both legs and parts of her arms after contracting meningitis.

* Colchester United youth players  were rushed to hospital after a smash on the A12.
