Firecrews fight huge Copford field fire

FIRECREWS are fighting a huge field fire.

Hedgerows and fields covering 50 hectares are alight at Mascotts Farm, School Road, Copford.

Firefighters from Colchester, Tiptree , Witham, Manningtree, Halstead, Wickford and Basildon are attempting to extinguish the fire which started at 3.30pm today.

A specialist off road Pinzgauer is also being used.

it's a great comfort to know that the crops had been harvested before the fire.
