IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A TRIAL ban on cars using Colchester High Street will be launched in November.
Highways officers from Essex County Council have been carrying out checks ready for the radical move to reduce traffic in the town centre.
* Property guru Phil Spencer turned out to be a not-so Secret Agent. The host of Location, Location, Location was spotted filming in New Town, Colchester, for is new series.
* A man has started a three year jail sentence after police discovered his £100,000 cannabis factory.
Anthony Clifford, 50, was caught after officers swooped on a unit at Lodge Lane industrial park in Langham.
* Colchester United fans have criticised the football club's decision to pull the plug on live match commentaries on BBC Essex.

Bit of a joke really. Slightly less traffic on High Street but none of the benefits of pedestrianisation and chaos on the outer roads.
