Co-op interest cools on Gosbecks Road supermarket site

A SUPERMARKET appears to have cooled its interest in opening a new store in Colchester.
In July, Co-op had confirmed it was looking into opening a new store in Gosbecks Road.
The site is currently owned by Colchester Council, and is a base for Colchester Borough Homes.
But a spokeswoman for Co-op said: “Like any major retailer, The Co-operative Food is always looking for opportunities to acquire new sites and to grow its business.
“We are aware of this site on Gosbecks Road, but cannot comment on any speculation.”
