Football club refurb thanks to £10k grant
9:30am Tuesday 4th September 2012 in News
NEW facilities were opened at a village football club thanks to a £10,000 grant.
Rowhedge Football Club carried out a refurbishment of its clubhouse, including new flooring and an expansion.
The work was carried out thanks to a £10,000 Big Society Fund grant from Essex County Council.
County councillor Kevin Bentley officially re-opened the building on Saturday during a celebration event, surrounded by youth team players who had been training that morning.
Parish councillors and club officials were also on hand as the ribbon was cut.
Club treasurer Doug Clay said: “The club has been going since 2000 and was starting to get a bit run down, so we were lucky to get this grant.
“With teams running from under fives to under-18s, and the senior team, we are quite a busy club.
“Everyone here at the club would like to say a big thankyou to Essex County Council for its support.”
