IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: HOSPITAL PARKING TO GET WORSE

IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: PLANS to introduce parking restrictions on roads near Colchester General Hospital have hit a brick wall - days before work starts on the new £25 million radiotherapy centre.

A consultation on to whether to introduce parking curbs failed to produce clear results and now residents fear the situation will get worse.

* A supermarket caught selling fake booze is still stocking alcohol. Ocean Supermarket in North Station Road is continuing to sell alcohol while an appeal into the decision is considered.

* Former parish councillor Anthony Stewart, of The Rookeries, Marks Tey, has been jailed for seven years for a series of sex assaults on young girls.

* Teenager Oliver Lilburn thought he had a bad hangover - but it turned out to be a life-threatening stroke.

Re: HOSPITAL PARKING TO GET WORSE ... Why don't England get their heads out of their armpits and start growing a LOT of friggin' compassion? Residents wouldn't have to worry about people parking in their neighbourhoods if the blood sucking parking lot owners were not extorting money out of people - sick desperate people who are not there to attend a party or a concert. They are not there to have a good time ... most are going through HELL! I remember seeing my father-in-law visiting my mother-in-law at Broomfield Hospital where the visit (through no fault of his own) went overtime and instead of relaxing with and consoling his wife who was dying from cancer ... all he could worry about was a parking fine !!! When the hell did anyone in the majority think that this would be the right thing to put people through? Hospital car parks should not be money spinners to make some private firm even filthier and richer ... t hey should be there to provide a safe place for patients and their families to use their facilities without fear of fines or penalties or anything of the sort! I have been in the UK now since 1981 and am so saddened to see how uncaring, unfeeling and money grabbing this country's businesses have all become! WHO CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS??? Things can change if enough people scream about it as it is obvious that no one is going to listen whilst the populace whisper disgrace under their breaths.

Yours,
Joe Ortiz
(One very peed off hospital car park user)

Too right, the problem is that Colchester is getting bigger and no one is building car parks! Just rotten new rabbit hutches to live in. Colchester council have absolutely no idea how the lack of parking affects the people that live near places with minimal car parks. Grow a friggin brain and work out if the town is growing then the hospital will naturally get busier so more parking is required. Same as the football stadium, not enough parking there so people park on the residential streets. Its not right. Colchester council should know this. Absolute idiots. One of the reasons I want out of this cesspit we call Colchester !

BRAVO Joe Ortiz.

copy this comment of yours and send it to the head of the b00dy hospital!

better still, get the faceless heads to meet parking hospital users, to ask how they feel being unable to park in times of need..
Thanks bannanasinpajammas, (my wife n I watch that in the mornings ... sad :-)

I will most certainly be getting this and more to hopefully where it will count. This is something so many people are or SHOULD BE passionate about as it affects all but the mindlessly wealthy. I will need help though so chances are that I will be starting a Facebook page to see what's what.

Be well ....

Bigh - getting it wrong once is unfortunate, getting it wrong 5 times is ridiculous. So ..... hospital parking is nothing to do with CBC. And ..... the number of spaces at Weston Homes Stadium is the maximum allowed by law and there'snothing the council can do about that either.

Hey Reginald47,

Thanks for your input into this. I will just add at this point the following ...

The most common way that people give up their power is by thinking that they don't have any (Alice Walker).

The more we just shrug our shoulders and accept that this is just the way it is - the more we will continue to get screwed by these parasites! When will enough be enough?

Just because something becomes law or legal doesn't make it right.

To be continued I am sure.
Be well ...

The real problem is in fact the excessive centralisation of hospital services. The NHS should leave as many departments as possible at Essex County Hospital, a far better location for outpatient services, and which still has eight wards which could be used for some inpatients.

Well said, CC would never challenge this law, they are too useless.

THERE IS ALWAYS A WAY and it isn't over until it's over so come on people - start spreading the word. Let's show that there is a pulse and let these leeches know that we are at the very least aware that they are screwing us but only for so long ...

I don't think that it is an unrealistic goal. It is a humongous one and one that will not happen overnight or in a year or five or ten but it has to begin somewhere!

You can't just break the law because you don't like it. Don't be silly.

Hey Reg ...

you are either happy to get screwed by these vermin or you own one of these cash cow parking lots lol!

I am not suggesting anyone breaking the law - I am talking about changing what millions of people feel is wrong! Scotland and Wales do it for their citizens - so what's England's problem?

People power is what we need. I remember a story in France when they introduced car clamping, it was every French persons duty to superglue the clampers car door locks when ever they saw them working, and you know happened, they stopped clamping!
