IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: A DISTRAUGHT teenager is warning others to beware after his pet dog was savaged to death in a Colchester park.
Jack Foster, 16, lost his dog and best friend Klaus after he was attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier.
* The treasurer of a fishing club stole more than half of its annual takings. Peter Boardman, 59, was trusted with teh accounts for Lake View Angling Club in Clacton when he pilfered almost £5,000.
* A former parish councillor has gone on trial accused of a series of sex offences involving young girls. Anthony Stewart, 52, of The Rookeries, Marks Tey, who used to be a Sible Hedingham parish councillor, denies 16 charges.
* A teenager nearly drowned after his foot was caught under a rock off the Mersea coast. The 13-year-old boy swallowed large quantities of water as he ducked down to try to free his foot. He managed to escape while the emergency services races to his rescue.
