Goldhanger: Samba drummer performs at Olympics Goldhanger: Samba drummer performs at Olympics

A samba drummer performed the gig of her life at the Olympic’s closing ceremony.

Carey Brown, 49, of Fish Street, Goldhanger, was among 80 drummers who performed during the handover to Rio de Janeiro.

She donned an intricate heavy gold costume with an extravagant headdress to perform the Latin beat as a street cleaner practised the samba.

Mrs Brown, who works in administration for disability charity Scope, applied for the role through the UK Samba Association after she heard performers were wanted for the Olympics.

She joined Essex Samba in 2008 after her husband died to have somewhere to go for an escape.

The Welsh choir were Londoners, and now we learn the Brazilian dancers weren't Brazilian.
Next we shall be told that the gold medals weren't gold.
Whatever next?
But well done Mrs Brown, you helped put on a great show.
