Clacton: Attack leaves student needing surgery

A STUDENT who was attacked has been left with metal plates in his face following surgery.
The 22-year-old from Frinton was walking along Pier Avenue in Clacton shortly after 1am on Saturday August 4 when he saw another man being assaulted.
He went to intervene but was hit in the face by the victim and then punched again by a third man, causing him to fall to the floor.
DC Mo Crawley, investigating officer, said: "This was a completely unprovoked attack and the injuries this man has sustained are appalling when all he wanted to do was help somebody. Surgeons have placed metal plates in his broken jaw in a bid to help it heal.”

Police do not have any descriptions of the assailants, who ran off, and so are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone with information in connection with this assault is urged to contact detectives at Clacton police station on 101.
