Man charged following robbery in Clacton

A MAN has appeared in court charged with robbing a teenager in Clacton.

The 17-year-old, from Chingford, was attacked by four people in Wellesley Road at 12.30am on Wednesday.

A 26-year-old man, from Clacton, has appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today charged with two counts of robbery in relation to the incident.

The victim was taken to Colchester General Hospital after sustaining a minor head injury during the assault, but was later discharged.

Later that day two men, aged 26 and 32, from the Clacton area, were arrested on suspicion of robbery.

The 32-year-old man has been released on police bail until August 29 while enquiries continue.
