Disabled residents complain about blocked path

A BLOCKED pavement which has been making life difficult for residents for months is expected to be cleared this week.

Parts of the path near the junction of Berechurch Road and Mersea Road have been cordoned off and bus stops closed since January while homes are built in Roberts Road.

As a result elderly people and the disabled have been struggling to get to the shops or into town.

But it is now hoped the path will be cleared by Thursday.

A real charmer aren't you?

Surely even you can see that a more able-bodied person such as yourself would not have as much of a problem navigating hazards as someone in a wheelchair?

Idiot!

Frankandsetin2: the way the article reads is that the blockage of the path is deliberate i.e. it is cordoned off. Therefore Missymoouk has a point, it's not just elderly or disabled using the path. A bit like when post offices and bus services are cut - the first thing people say is it will affect elderly and disabled - in reality it affects everyone!
