DETECTIVES investigating a homophobic assault in Colchester have released a description of the prime suspect.

A man was leaving his home when another punched him in the face and made derogatory remarks about his sexuality.

The assault happened inside a communal area of John Kavenagh Court, Magdalen Street at about 4.30pm on Monday, May 21.

Det Cons Claire Strachan said: “This man is likely to live somewhere in Colchester so we’re confident that we will get a name for him if people look closely at the image and contact us.”

The main suspect is white, in his mid-20s and was wearing heavily-worn trainers.

The victim, 26, went to Colchester General Hospital himself and was treated for his head injuries.
Details of the incident have only just been released by Essex Police.

Anyone with information call detectives at Colchester police station on 101.

Yet again the Police release details weeks later. What hope is there?

@Mr Honest: this may be because they want to be absolutely confident that they have the right description. Nonetheless, it seems the suspect knew his victim well enough to know his sexuality so it is likely indeed that he is a local man.
