Essex House to partly re-open after suspected chemical leaks

STAFF will return to a building evacuated twice due to a suspected chemical leak before a cause is found.

Parts of Essex House, on Severalls Business Park, will re-open on Monday.

The property was evacuated twice after more than 40 people in the building and at neighbouring business fell ill.

A major operation was launched by emergency service personnel - twice.

However the cause has not been confirmed and several public sector agencies responsible for health still have not and will not be investigating.

The area of Essex House where the staff fell ill will remain cordoned off.

The suspected leaks took place on June 29 and July 7.

See Monday's Gazette for the full story.

July 9th actually. Off to the bookies to place a bet on the next evacuation date.

It is good they are taking the situation seriously. So often we hear of sites where health and safety is neglected until someone is killed. I hope though the affected zone in this building isn't bricked up for too long before people can return.

Oh no, where there's no blame, there's no claim.
