Potter appeals planning decision against studio at a Wivenhoe hall

AN APPEAL has been launched to turn a former community hall in Wivenhoe into a pottery studio and flat.

Pru Green wants to turn the old St John’s Ambulance Hall in Chapel Road into a workshop and studio with accommodation above it.

Colchester Council’s planning committee refused permission for the development for a second time in May, but Ms Green has now appealed to the planning inspectorate to have the decision overturned.

The proposals attracted opposition from local residents and the Wivenhoe Society who said the hall was used by a number of groups and the town would now lack enough space for a thriving community.

The council refused the initial application on these grounds, but Ms Green argued the previous use by community groups was informal and the new development would include community space.

Time for this woman to stop. Local residents are right, the community hall should continue to be used as such.
She had the money to gazump the Wivenhoe Society's agreed purchase deal, so she must have the money to build a new studio exactly to her liking.
Give up now, Ms Green. Sell the hall to those who will make better use of it than you will ever do.
