Pupils in stitches at Greenstead school

PUPILS at a Greenstead school ended up in stitches after taking part in a comedy masterclass.

Stand-up comedian and comedy script writer Dave Smith visited the Colchester Academy, in Hawthorn Avenue and ran the two hour session for an English class.

The workshop was paid for by the Jack Petchey Foundation after student Ryan Margerison, 14, won the achievement award.

Ryan said chose to spend the £200 prize money on the comedy visit because he likes humour and enjoys making others laugh.

The comic gave a talk to the students about his job, what it entails and where it takes him, before giving them tips on what makes good comedy writing and letting them have a go.

Maybe one day Schools could have a visitor who can show the pupils how to be clever.

Funny? Students look like they are enjoying the lesson.
Don't look bored at all.

The picture says it all? It doesn't appear to be a very inspirational session, particularly as nobody seems amused!
