Body of suspected murderer recovered by police

POLICE tonight said they were continuing to investigate the murder of PC Ian Dibell, who was shot while off duty in Clacton yesterday.

The body of the suspect, Peter Reeve, has now been recovered from where it was found in a churchyard in Writtle earlier today.

But a police spokesman said: "This continues to be a live murder investigation being led by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

"Detectives are now interviewing witnesses and gathering information regarding the full circumstances leading to the death of police officer Ian Dibell and deceased murder suspect Peter Reeve."

Police say a file will now be produced for the Essex Coroner ahead of an inquest.

Good riddance to that horrible man. He took the life of a man who was clearly a man of the people. Whatever the provocation, nothing can be worth that. Good riddance.

May you REST IN PEACE Ian Dibell. Killed for no reason at all. Just helping others. Glad the maniac took his life too, a menace to society. My Prayers are for Ian and his family.

The worrying thing is, that according to the latest reports, Peter Reeve worked voluntarily at a Gun Club in Little Clacton. The owner says that he didn't really know much about Peter Reeve..!!! If he is that much in the dark about who is working or visiting his Gun Club then I suggest he needs his license revoked and the club need to be closed before something else like this happens. I'm not suggesting that he got the gun from there, but with an owner like that, its very possible any nut job can get in there and who knows what will happen....

Sorry but I can't believe that the gun club owner did not run a background check on his employee which would also have included a mental health check for this job.our love and sympathy goes to the family of a fellow officer and the community he served.

@ Californianana...

You are dead right. He should have run checks. If he did not then I suggest the Police jump on him like lightening and start raking through everything to do with this gun club. You can't work in a school without being checked but seemingly you can get in and work in a gun club without people knowing who ya are !!!! Makes me feel so safe.....
