The police helicopter was last night searching for three youngsters following reports of them walking on railway lines.

The helicopter was above Rose Hill, Braintree, at about 9.20pm last night after a report that three children were walking along the lines to Freeport.

The children, thought to be about 12-years-old, were not found by police.

An Essex Police spokesman said officers were concerned for the children's safety.
