The Burnham RNLI lifeboat was called to a 22ft motorboat which had run aground.

The Thames Coastguard received a call concerning the boat, named Sofia, from a yacht in the River Crouch at 6.15pm last night.

Two people were spotted trying to return to Burnham in a rigid-hulled inflatable boat, while a third stayed with the motorboat.

The Burnham RNLI Lifeboat was unable to free the vessel but brought three people back to safety.

The boat was recovered when it refloated later.
