Police helicopter search following Wivenhoe crash

RESIDENTS were woken by the police helicopter in Wivenhoe after reports of a driver fleeing following a crash.

Police and paramedics were called to Alresford Road after a silver Mercedes left the road and crashed.

No other vehicle was involved.

The helicopter was scrambled and used the searchlight to try to find the driver.

However original reports were mistaken and both female occupants were still with the car.

They were treated by paramedics for minor injuries.

The crash took place at about 11.30pm on Tuesday.

If there is one cut the police should be making it is this "Toy Helicopter", people are always raising money for the air ambulance yet this waste of tax payers money seems to keep going regardless.
