1:20pm Friday 6th July 2012 in News
A CHARITY has received seven new wheelchairs thanks to donations by shoppers.
The Colchester Wheelchair loan Charity has been given five lightweight adult and two specialised children’s wheelchairs after support from Waitrose.
Money was also donated by the Colchester Children's Charity Appeal.
Bart Walsh, co-ordinator for the scheme said: “Nearly two thousand local people have loaned wheelchairs from us during the three years in which we have been operating.”
The charity gives short-term loans of wheelchairs and has 90 chairs available at any one time. The service is free, though a deposit is required, and wheelchairs can be loaned for up to three months at a time.
To contact the Wheelchair Loan Charity visit their offices at Catalyst House, Newcomen Way, Colchester between Monday and Thursday 10am-12pm or call 01206 518524 between the same times.
