Organisers give verdict on Colchester Carnival

THOUSANDS of people lined the sunny streets for the Colchester Carnival parade.

Smiling children and the cheering masses contributed to the cacophony of sound and colour.

The community event included sports clubs, dance groups, businesses, charities and many more with about 1,000 people taking part with 45 floats.

And it was not just the parade but several combined events offering a festival of fun in the town.

Dan Woodruff, chairman of the organising committee, said: “It went absolutely to plan and we are all delighted.

“The crowds were out in force and in greater numbers than last year.

“We achieved everything we wanted to and it was fantastic to have so many people taking part.”
