Kids compete in Olympic-themed sports day
SCHOOL kids competed in a special Olympic-themed sports day to mark the games coming to Essex.
Pupils from St Benedict’s School, in Norman Way, Colchester competed in an array of competitions, including sprints, the shot put, high jump, triple jump and a tug of war.
Team GB Olympic hopeful Daniel King, a speed walker, was on hand to speak to the competitors as well as give out awards.
Bryn Lewis, Year Seven head, said: “We hold the sports day every year and this year we wanted to really push the Olympics.
“Having someone like Daniel on hand was great for the pupils to see.
“He is someone who knows what it takes and we have a number of pupils hoping to become Olympians in the future.”
