IN TODAY'S GAZETTE: ARMY regiments based in Colchester look set to escape the Ministry of Defence cuts.
Up to 50 UK regiemnts are expected to be merged or disbanded under Government plans but it is thought 2 and 3 battalions, the Parachute Regiment, will remain in tact.
* A man was left bloddied and shaken after a night-time robbery in a quiet village.
The attack happened off Market Hill, Coggeshall, and the victim was injured as his assailants took his mobile phone and wallet.
* Drawings by world-renowned artist John Constable - including a sketcho f St Botolph's Priory in Colchester - are to be auctioned.
* Police suspect a gang may be behind a wave of burglaries at pubs and clubs in Colchester.
