STAFF at fashion chain Peacocks are celebrating after it was announced their jobs are safe.
The chain’s stores in Colchester, Clacton, Frinton, Braintree, Witham and Dovercourt will all be kept open after the firm was sold out of administration.
The deal with Edinburgh Woollen Mill has saved 388 shops and more than 6,000 jobs.
But elsewhere in the country the news is bleak.
Administrators from KPMG said it had been forced to close 224 stores with immediate effect, leading to 3,100 redundancies.
