A SMALL army of 100 volunteers is needed to help young people in the local area beat the threat of unemployment.
Young Enterprise, an enterprise education company, says it has so many students signing up this year it needs more people to help run its programmes.
The programmes include ‘Learn To Earn’, which explodes the myths of the celebrity lifestyle and underlines the value of education, and ‘In Business With the Games’, an Olympic-themed enterprise challenge.
Students are up to age 25.
Volunteers need only to have experience of the world of work and a desire to inspire young people to take control of their futures.
Their job is to guide and advise the pupils through the programmes using their own story, enthusiasm and career experiences to help them understand the realities of working life.
Training will be offered and every volunteer will get a detailed handbook to help them.
Young Enterprise staff will also be on hand throughout.
Volunteers will be needed for events in the east of England over 20 different days between February and July.
E-mail catriona.austin@young-enterprise.org.uk for more information and to volunteer.
