"Integral part" set to be missing for the Iron

Alan Devonshire admits he is going to miss Ben Wright during his suspension in Braintree Town’s next three Blue Square Bet Premier games.

The Iron boss will have to have a think about his forward options after Wright became the team’s eighth player to be sent off this season for Saturday’s home game against Barrow AFC.

Devonshire said: “We are going to miss Ben for three games now.

“He has become an integral part of the team, but we will get on with it.”

It is hoped that skipper Kenny Davis will be fit to face Barrow, though.

Davis missed the trip to Fleetwood through illness, but manager Alan Devonshire said he hopes his captain will have recovered for the weekend.

The Iron boss admitted to being “surprised” that centre-half Adam Bailey-Dennis was able to face Fleetwood after recovering from the thigh problem that saw him come off in the 2-2 draw with Stockport.

Devonshire said it had turned out to be a bit of jarring in the muscle rather than a pull and that the former Colchester United youth teamer should be fit for the Barrow encounter.

However, Saturday’s game is likely to come too soon for Ryan Peters’ calf injury, while centre-back Dave Stevens was due to see a specialist yesterday to look at the extent of his ongoing knee problem.
