A BUSINESS management student has been told he is facing a jail sentence for trying to rape a teenager.
A court heard on Thursday how the 18-year-old was left shocked and upset after she was attacked on the Essex University campus.
She had only arrived at the university a short time before and was out with friends during fresher's week when she was assaulted.
Her attacker was told by a Chelmsford Crown Court judge he is facing an "inevitable" jail sentence after he was convicted on two charges of attempted rape.
Soban Bin Ikram will return to court next month once reports are prepared. He was granted bail until then.
The 22-year-old of Sainty Quay, Lightship Way, Colchester, denied two charges of attempted rape but was convicted after a trial.
