A DOUBLE-DECKER bus caught fire in Thorrington earlier this evening causing the road to be closed.
Fire crews from Brightlingsea and Wivenhoe went to the blaze which broke out on the Brightlingsea Road, close to the junction with Clacton Road.
Firefighters were called at 4.37pm and used two hose reel jets, one main jet and a breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire by 5.03pm.
There was also a diesel spillage as a result of the blaze.
Police were called to help deal with traffic and motorists are still facing severe congestion around the incident.
