While I recognise councillor Kevin Bentley, leader of the Conservative opposition on Colchester Council, is perfectly entitled to be critical of the current administration at the Town Hall, with reference to Tymplerleys, he clearly hopes people have forgotten his own stewardship of the town’s heritage when he was responsible.
While he was enthusiastically backing the Visual Arts Facility, and the millions of pounds of public money squandered, what did he do to promote Tymperleys?
However, perhaps his real moment of triumphal failure came when he sought to raid the donation boxes at the town’s museums, including the “wishing well” in the castle.
Fortunately, common sense prevailed. I have not forgotten his record in office.
