X Factor star Olly Murs has raced to the top of the UK charts with his debut single Please Don’t Let Me Go.
The 26-year-old from Witham, who came second to eventual winner Joe McElderry on the sixth series of popular TV talent show the X Factor, has now achieved what his Geordie rival failed to do at Christmas - reaching top spot in the first week of the release of his debut single.
The catchy song, which was available to buy from last Sunday, eclipsed the efforts of near rivals Katy Perry and Taio Cruz in being announced UK number one on this evening’s Official Chart Show on Radio One.
Female fans will also be pleased to know that the Essex heartthrob, who formerly attended Notley High School, has vowed to stick to his promise and pose nude for Heat magazine to celebrate the achievement.
Following the success of this single, which Olly co-wrote, it is likely that another track will be released before his debut album comes out in November.
