ENGLAND’S stars of the future will be playing in Colchester next week – and you could join them on the pitch at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.
The under-21s play their final qualifying game for the European Championships against Lithuania at the 10,000-seater stadium next Tuesday, September 7.
A host of Premier League regulars will be playing on Colchester United’s pitch, as Stuart Pearce’s side look to ensure their qualification for the finals next year.
Starlet Jack Wilshere, who has been in the headlines for good and bad reasons, is back in the team following his elevation to the senior squad for the game with Hungary last month.
There is also a first-time under-21 call-up for Huddersfield Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies, who has been in good form for Lee Clark’s side over the last two seasons. Players such as Martin Kelly, Jordan Henderson, Phil Jones, Marc Albrighton and Victor Moses retain their places in the squad following their under-21 debuts against Uzbekistan last month.
And six lucky youngsters could play an important part in the day.
The Football Association is searching for six children to be flagbearers to help lead the teams out on the day, with the winners receiving: Umbro kit, a goody bag, a match-day programme,a packed lunch, three match tickets for family/guardian and one match ticket for the flagbearer/mascot.
