Police want to hear from a family who may have seen a teenager assaulted.

A 16-year-old boy was headbutted by another teenage boy outside a convenience store in Spa Road, Witham, shortly after 8pm on Friday.

Investigating officer PC Simone Wade said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked assault.

“We do know that there was a young family in the vicinity of the shop and who asked after the boy’s welfare following the attack.

“We would like to speak to them as they are key witnesses.”

The assailant was described as white, skinny and wearing jeans and a dark shirt.

The victim, who lives in the Braintree area, did not need medical treatment.
