THE newly-formed Palace Theatre Guild has repeated its call for local businesses to sponsor a fundraising Christmas show.
Chairman Michael Heath is leading a campaign to raise money for the Westcliff theatre to be used for community performances, educational trips and festivals as well as professional performances.
The theatre is set to close in the autumn as part of Southend Council's budget cuts, but it is hoped it will reopen next year under private management, with support from the Palace Theatre Guild.
The guild is staging a week of concert performances of the musical drama A Christmas Carol at Crowstone Church, Westcliff, to raise money and the guild's profile.
* Any local businesses which would like to sponsor an event should e-mail palaceguild@umbco.co.uk or call Michael Heath at the Palace Theatre on 01702 475377.
