The British Army's most high-tech mobile weapon system has arrived at Colchester Garrison.
The state-of-the-art AS90 looks more like a tank than a gun and is capable of shooting shells 15 miles.
Two have already rolled into Kirkee Barracks and another ten are due by the end of July.
Soldiers from 19 Regiment Royal Artillery are training with the computer-controlled armoured weapons in readiness for their move to Larkhill, Wiltshire, where they will form part of 12 Mechanised Brigade.
Captain Matt Neate said: "We are looking forward to retraining on the new system. It is an extremely high-tech piece of equipment, with a range of almost 25 km and capable of firing three rounds every ten seconds."
The regiment is the only one in the country to have the British-made AS90s.
Troops will make occasional trips to Salisbury Plain to undergo intense training on the guns and some tuition will be done within Kirkee Barracks.
