MALDON......................177-6

WORMINGFORD.......180-1

(Wormingford won by nine wickets)

Maldon batted first on a damp pitch, the ball kept low and the Wormingford opening bowlers maintained a good line and length, thus making run scoring difficult.

Despite these adverse conditions, Craig Gozzett struck an unbeaten 100 which helped Maldon to an eventual total of 177 for six.

In reply, the Wormingford opening batsmen got off to a steady start despite some good tight bowling from Maldon's opening bowlers.

Maldon had no real depth to their bowling and once the change bowlers came on scoring became fairly easy for the Wormingford batsmen.

The first wicket fell at 118, due to a good catch by S.Gozzett, but Wormingford carried on and reached their target in the 28th over with just one wicket being claimed by Maldon.

A special mention was made of Maldon's wicketkeeper for the day, Kim Broadhurst, for his sterling effort behind the stumps.
