Billericay Town confirmed their top six credentials with another win on Tuesday at New Lodge.

Chesham came well prepared but a Paul Linger shot on ten minutes was deftly flicked in by Alan Brett close in to give visiting goalkeeper Delroy Preddie no chance.

While play was fairly even, Chesham were weak in front of Billericay's goal and Town always looked more likely to score more than the visitors to equalise.

While speedy forward Stafford Browne was always troublesome, it was Brett, on his home debut who got the second goal.

Good work by Sammy Cooper and a cutback by Linger enabled the ex-Canvey man to poke the ball home from close in.

Cooper did not resume for the second half but manager Gary Calder is very skilled at the clever use of his substitutes and Town continued very much as before.

Chesham though also used their substitutes to good effect and crafted a worthwhile equaliser midway through the half to put some pressure back onto Town.

The home defence though, well marshalled by captain Steve Terry, was up to the task and late on, Kirk Game might have increased the lead with a powerful header from a centre by substitute Billy Goldstone.

The win put Town into a deserved fifth position in the Ryman League.

Billericay Town: King, Game, Williams, Terry, Roudette, Parratt, Penn, Linger, Brett, Browne and Cooper. Substitutes: Adams and Goldstone.
