DESTRUCTIVE tree roots in Shrub End are destroying the pavements of a residential street.
Gladwin Road is seeing cracks appear in the concrete as roots from the trees are protruding through.
Pauline Hazell, Tory councillor for Shrub End, said: “The roots of a number of trees in Gladwin Avenue have caused the surrounding pavements to crack and rise up."
Michael Page, a spokesman from the county council, said: “We are aware of the situation with tree roots causing cracked pavements on Gladwin Road, and are currently seeking advice from Tree Officers at Colchester Borough Council so that the pavements can be repaired and made safe without causing any damage to the trees.”
