Man stabbed in Colchester after scuffle

A MAN has been stabbed after getting in a scuffle near a Colchester supermarket.

A 26-year-old local man was walking along an alleyway between Wimpole Road and Military Road, near Aldi between 7pm and 7.30pm on Monday night.

He exchanged words with three or four black men, before getting involved in a brief fight with one of the men.

Afterwards, he discovered he had two small stab wounds on his back.

He then spoke to two women who were walking a dog, before being taken to Colchester General Hospital.

His injuries were stitched and he was later released.

Police want to speak to anyone in the area, particularly the two women.

Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at Colchester on 0300 333 4444, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Quite why anyone would want to walk down this dark unlit alley is beyond me. There is a road that runs parallel with this alley. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that he asked for it and of course he should be able to walk along it without being attacked, but why risk it when there’s a perfectly lit road right next to it? Oh yeah, and a there's a pub on that road too, so he could stop for a pint of ale and a bag of peanuts on the way. That's better than being stabbed in the back.
